“TWO HOURS AGO.” If that is your answer, then I hope that you will find this blog enjoyable–a place to read about one of your favorite pastimes! I will write book reviews and posts about themes in literature, give book talks and provide book lists, and talk about authors and all sorts of book-related experiences. And I hope you will engage in the comments! Blogging is like teaching, in that I will learn from my readers just like I learn from my students when I teach. I can’t wait to hear book recommendations and discussion from you!
“TWO YEARS AGO.” You might say this with a tone of regret, embarrassment, dissatisfaction. Perhaps you are a mother of multiple children, and somewhere over the last few years you lost your regular routine of reading. Or maybe you are a busy teacher who has switched grade levels or been assigned new classes for the last two years (I’m right there with you! My reading count went down as my creativity and training in education was required to go up!). It’s okay. Life happens.
Maybe you said “Two years ago” sheepishly. You’re a high school student who just “fake read” every book in your 10th grade and 11th grade English classes, but you’re beginning to realize that you miss your old reading habits from 5th grade, and you’re not pleased with your ACT Reading scores. It’s never too late to start again. I teach students like you every day!
“TWO DECADES AGO.” Hi, there! I’m glad you stopped by because you are my main audience! (Shhhhh! Don’t tell the people who finished their last book two hours ago!) It is my goal to convince you of the value of reading and lead you into a new place in your reading life, which I believe will directly or indirectly affect the rest of your life for the better. I’m glad you’re here!
